1 Introduction to Sungnimsa Temple.
Dorisa Temple was first established by Ado Hwasang, a Goguryeo monk, during the reign of King Nulji (417), the 19th king of Silla, to spread Buddhism in Silla, where there was no Buddhism, and is known as the birthplace of Buddhism and the first temple in Silla.
Dorisa Temple is located in Naengsan, Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and although the exact date of its founding is unknown, it is said to be the first temple in Silla.
This temple is related to Ado Hwasang, who appears in the legend when Buddhism was first introduced to Silla.
It is said that while Adoga was traveling to find a place to practice Buddhism, he saw peach blossoms (Do) and plum blossoms (Ri) in full bloom even in the middle of winter, and he knew it was a good place. He built a temple there and named it Dorisa. Dorisa is a temple where temple stays are available, and many domestic and foreign tourists visit to experience traditional temple practice.
