1 How should modern people approach the humanities?
I have been deeply troubled by the question of how it should approach us living in the 21st century.
We can conclude that Eastern thought is not as mysterious as most people think, but rather a crystallization of knowledge like the words of Confucius.
A person who properly understands the humanities can know the future well without resorting to fortune telling or other shamanistic methods, and through this, can guide others and cultivate himself to maintain the attitude of a wise man.
How can we apply this thought, which contains the image of the times 3,000 years ago, to today? This is truly a huge question.
It is not about saying that we should live a good life as religion says, but rather about showing us what it means to live like a human being.
2 Eastern thought that teaches us how to escape from the trap
However, it does not necessarily teach us to live in poverty. In the Joseon Dynasty, the upright people diligently cultivated themselves, helped others, and pursued a life of living together with the same era. I can conclude that this spirit (living in harmony with those around them and helping each other) is the spirit that the humanities desire.
It is not the thought of Zhuangzi or Laozi to abandon oneself too much and turn one's back on the world, becoming a reclusive loner or not being able to come out into the world.
In this complex and difficult human history, it is impossible to live in a state of inaction like Laozi's thought and turn one's back on the world like Baek's homework, and it teaches us how to live according to each situation in our lives today.
If someone who practices Oriental medicine wants to gain something through the humanities, they will have to study a lot (such as constitution...) and of course, the foundation for this will be studying yin and yang, thought, the five elements, the five energies, and six energies.
3. Corporate management and the humanities
The combination of management and oriental studies that I ultimately attempt is the same, so corporate management is also the same.
To properly understand management, you must first know military books such as Sun Tzu's The Art of War or Wu Zi's The Art of War, and also study historical books such as Tonggam and Shiji, as well as Hwang Seok-gong's The Art of War.
Humanities are not fun, and without basic knowledge, you will not know what the Chinese characters mean or what the content is even if you read them.
You can interpret the meaning of the Book of Poetry or the Book of Documents just by reading the part of the poem, but they use many concise words along with metaphors and allusions, and they quote many Chinese characters with meanings that are different from the meanings of the Chinese characters that we know in modern times, so you cannot read them without a certain level of Chinese character skills.
Anyone can start, and you can set a day to cleanse your body and mind and start studying, but this is not a martial art that uses your body, but rather a study where you hold a topic at your desk, so after a while, your whole body will start to tremble.
